Help with Disco Starting...
I am hoping there is a quick fix for my friends problem. She recently bought a 2002 Discovery 4.0. Yesterday she did her last minute shopping and came out to find her disco wouldn't start.
Lights, everything works but it wouldn't turn over nor would it move out of park when BCAA came to tow it away.
I remember a fuse problem I had with a Range Rover I once had that when the heater blew a fuse I also couldn't move it out of park.
Any idea's? She has only had it for a week so not a very good start (haha).
Thanks to all that have a suggestion.
Merry Christmas

Is there a little, red light flashing on the bottom of the dash between the gauges? If it is, it's that stupid, damn, bullshit super-lock feature (I'm not a big fan). The only way I can get Cyndi's to start in this condition is to get out of the truck, lock it with the key fob, then unlock it with the fob, then open the door to see if the red light is off. If not I go through the same procedure again.
I've heard this silly lock feature can be turned off by the dealer.

Solution....
And the prize for solution goes to Alan Simpson.
The shifter cable came "unclipped" and the transmission was stuck in drive. Off to the tranny shop that worked on it a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks to all that responded with suggestions.

Well 4Wheeler Magazine would be pretty low on my list of reliable info on a lot of "4x4" related articles....but that's a whole other topic (maybe).
You do need to apply the brakes to shift out of park and if the brake light switch is kaputsky you not going to move the shift lever out of park without major dismantling of the shifter. :D
