Whipsaw - Canada Day

#1 Post by Doc Tari » Mon Jun 13, 2011 7:05 pm

Since we weren't able to make this year's first attempt on Whipsaw on the Victoria Day long weekend due to snow, the new plan is to do so on the Canada Day long weekend, July 1 - 3. From those I've spoken to, it looks like there are ~ 6 or so people interested so far. Please post up if you're planning to go and please include your preferred departure (Thursday night, Friday morning, etc...)

Thanks,
Pete

PS: Kris, you might want to add this to the calendar

Done,

I'm thinking of leaving Thursday after work but if Mark decides to come along then I'll leave Friday morning as I don't think he remembers how to get there from the Champion side.

I would also like to attend the Whipsaw trail over the Canada day Long weekend. I am curious what everyones thoughts are on if it is passable or not? The reason I ask is I am not sure how many more adventures the RRC has left in it and I treat every run like it may be the last and I would like to experience the Whipsaw in its full glory. I am able to leave either Thurs afternoon or Friday morning.

Hi Ryan,

There will definately still be pockets of snow, the only question will be how much!
I wouldn't worry too much about your truck, plan to hang out near the back of the convoy and let the front runners do all the work.

We will post up meeting locations and times nearer to the day,

Cheers, Andy

Whipsaw Canada Day weekend

Hi Smesh,

Yes, you are more than welcome to come along. Plan on meeting the group at the Hope Tim Hortons at 10am on Friday morning. From there it is about an hour or so until we leave the ashphalt. Dress warm, expect snow, plan on camping out two nights (Fri & Sat nights).
Should be a fun trip.....Let us know if you are coming for sure and we will look out for you,
Cheers, Andy

Just back beautiful weekend on the Whipsaw, it was cool and crisp but bright and sunny. No bugs out yet on the Whipsaw even at Lodestone Lake! Still lots of snow 5-6ft in places

A couple of photos here, will put the rest in the Gallery in a couple of days
