When I cold start engine in the morning or out and about in town like 4hrs in between, My range rover will not have any brake , or brake pressure unless I start the engine and let it warm up 60-90 seconds.
IS this normal?, I just got this vehicle and It was very scary that I rolled towards a stop sign from my driveway the other day nearly hit the post.
How long does it take for the car to generate brake pressure? I hope something is not broken , like a brake pump etc.
P38a cold morning start, but car doesn't have brake.

brakes
There is a brake pressure pump that pressurizes the braking system and should hold pressure while the vehicle is off.
When they get old the seals break down and pressure is release while the vehicle is idle and the pump is not running. When you first start up do you hear a pump (under the hood) running like crazy trying to replace lost pressure?
You should also be getting a brake warning light come on the dash when the pressure is low?

Re: brakes
there is no brake warning light on dash, I do hear some kind of pump noise but not too noticeable. (I thought that was my air suspension).ANDYD wrote:There is a brake pressure pump that pressurizes the braking system and should hold pressure while the vehicle is off.

The thing is, If i let car warm up 1 or 2 mins, I will have brake and can safely put gear into Drive.
Is this safe?, will I be losing brake one day while driving down the highway?

Sounds like your Bomb (brake accumulator) is gone. Here is a good explanation - http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetail ... lator.html
Part should be about $300-$400 and should take less than 2 hours for a good shop.
Don't play around with this if you aren't comfortable working on modern brake systems. It's not that bad of a job, but you have to be very clean and bleeding these systems is a major PITA without a pressure bleeder.
