Have a 1992 RRC with a power drain.
1/10 of a volt every 5 seconds.
Been this way since I got it.
I replaced the fusable links with a fuse bus from a Ford Tauruse that uses Maxi Fuses.
I played with it today & tracked it to the fuel system.
If I pull the fuse in the fuse bus, engine stalls.
It will crank over, but will not start, have spark so fuel delivery.
If I have the key on, & put the fuse back in, I get a "klick" & then a "pump" sound for a few seconds from the right side of the intake.
I can't hear nor feel were it's exactly coming from?
Thanks Kevin
RRC Power drain

Re: RRC Power drain
That is what it is supposed to do. When you turn the key, the fuel pump runs for a few seconds to pressurize the fuel header.jeepingpw wrote:If I have the key on, & put the fuse back in, I get a "klick" & then a "pump" sound for a few seconds from the right side of the intake.
As to the power loss, you need to trace through the system. Get ahold of a wiring schematic first.... The manuals are on the internet and have the full wiring diagrams.

Yep I know about the fuel pump, just thought it was strange to hear this up at the engine.
The power drain continues even after the pump shuts off.
If I pull the fuse, then the power drain stops.
This "fuse" used to be a fuseable link that I've replaced with a "bus" fuse.
I don't know if there are any other components powered off the fuel pump.

Land Rover Repair Forum's the best!
I had constant power to the O2 sensor.
When I got this RRC, both relays under the pass. seat were "green".
They should have both been "metal" relays.
I had changed the one relay (black relay plug) with a metal one & got the fuel pump working.
The "blue" relay plug had a "green" relay in it & that was powering the O2 sensor even with the key off.
The "green" relays are the same as a light relay in that they have
87 (keyed power) & 87A (constant power).
The "Metal" relays have a 87 & 87 both keyed power.
