Does anybody know if the input on a LT230 is different between a R380 and a auto for 1995?

They are the same bolt pattern but some of the earlier LT230's have a shallower spline depth in the input gear that can cause issues with the later auto box output spline length or something to that effect.

I actually learnt that the hard way. Got a replacement from a '97 thinking it was the same, and after 2 days f**king around in my driveway trying to fit it, I discovered they were slightly different. That's why I don't want to make the same mistake twice! :D

Putting a later transfer box on an earlier transmission should not be a problem.

Something must have been, because it wouldn't go in the last 3/4 of an inch.
