I have an ex BATUS Land Rover 90, UK military registration 78KF**
Only a few years ago, I could do a registry search through EMLRA in England,
I am a member of theirs, but they can no longer provide this service.
There are several military museums in the UK, many of them require archive inquiries by mail only.
Who do I contact for an army truck so 'new'? It entered service in 1987, and was cast in 2003.

Re: UK military registration search
Hello radio-05,
You may try this link as they say they have records until late 80's.
http://www.army.mod.uk/rlc/history/17719.aspx
I was at the Beverly Army Transport museum many years ago and they were very helpful finding history,(B card) of 27GT98, a '78 Lightweight.
Lightweight can be found on www, alre.ca under gallery and truck of the month.
Sad that EMLRA are not able to do search any more.
Let us know how you go as I am interested in finding more about my CA46AA, a 1995, BATUS 110.

Re: UK military registration search
For the 2 LR's in my possession [ 1986 ex-military 90 & 110 LHD's ] purchased in 2002 in the UK @ L. Jackson & Co. Rocket Site , the Museum of Army Transport [ upon writing them in January 2003 ] provided me with the history of both vehicles . I had to provide them with their respective chassis #'s and the army registration #'s . It was interesting to learn that both were put into service with the British Army at the Vehicle Depot Hilton July 1986 ; subsequently NATO designated and stationed with the Royal Air Force Wildenrath in Germany [ May 1987 - June 1996 ] before they were both struck off the military census at Munchen Gladbach in late 1996 . The Museum also provided me with their respective vehicle history cards . The Curator at that time was Mr W A Dugan . I found these folks very responsive despite the snail mail only written requests .

I used to live about 5 miles from 'Vehicle Depot, Hilton'..... saw many a convoy of trucks & tanks heading in & out of there.... was sold off about 10yrs ago by MOD & turned into an industrial & housing estate.

Re: UK military registration search
I filled in the application, and sent a money order of 25GBP to the RLC museum in deepcut.
After two months, I received a letter stating that they are currently changing their records from paper to digital, and it will be a few weeks before results are known.
So far, it's been a valid attempt. I will update when the final letter comes in.

Re: UK military registration search
I have also sent in an application but still too early to have a reply.
Also found the first request is 25 GBP but any other applications sent at the same time, were only 15 GBP.
I sent in for a search for the military history of 5 Lightweights that are in the Alberta Land Rover Enthusiasts (ALRE) club.
One might have an interesting history as it has an XB plate and there is a short write up about it in the book, The Half-ton Military Land Rover by Mark Cook.
The XB vehicles were supplied to the Berlin Garrison. "Berlin being surrounded by the 'Red Menace' had no chance if hostilities broke out. The policy was to allocate old unimportant equipment to a force that would be overwhelmed in a short time." This did not happen and the Berlin Garrison is no more.
So how did this XB Land Rover end up in Alberta??
