brake fluid going down

I noticed the level in the reservoir of our series 3 going down for the first time in eight years but I can't see any sign of a leak on the wheels or anywhere else. Where might it be going and what's they fix?

Take each brake drum off to look for leaks at the wheel cylinders. at the same time, you can inspect flex lines. Then looks at all joints. Lastly look at the back of the master cylinder.

I agree, if you havent seen any drips, then most likely leaking inside one of your brake drums, soaking into your brake shoes!

You can get new rubber seal repair kits to put inside the leaky cylinder but in my experience its better to buy the complete new cylinder (comes with all new seals).

Thanks, gentlemen. I figured as much; sounds like a brake job due, but can't complain after eight years of ownership and goodness knows how many before we got it.
Interestingly, I tried adjusting the brakes but I could only get the left rear adjuster to wind in til it stopped the wheel. All the others kept turning.

If you can't find any trace of fluid leaking then check the power booster. If your diaphragm is leaking it will pull fluid from the master cyl.
