109 5 door station wagon

#1 Post by Nicholas » Wed Nov 04, 2015 10:27 am

Hi I am new to the vintage LR ownership and have a lot to do to my 1969 series 2a. Does anyone have an opinion on the best maintenance manual, manuals that would be useful? I am sure I will have many questions in the futue regarding my project.

Welcome to the fraternity. Factory shop manuals are the only way to go in my opinion.

If you are looking for a guide to maintain your truck there is an excellent manual by Lindsay Porter called Land-rover service guide series 1,11,11a, and 111 it is available at Amazon. It covers the basics in a simple way that is a great introduction to what is involved in caring for these vehicles.

You might try a visit to the Ottawa Valley LR site for some info on parts & repairs:

Hello from Brisbane.

While you are looking for the official LR repair manual (Book Depository UK has them) I would heartily recommend picking up the official parts manual for your model as well. It has all the part serial numbers as well as the diagrams for the various components of your vehicle. This is a terrific resource for first identifying the parts and then ordering them, especially if you are doing that with a UK based supplier such as Craddocks, Paddock, Richards, Dunsfold etc.

There are also a few places where you can download PDF copies of the manuals for free - e.g. Roverparts in Ballarat used to have them for the various Series models on their website.

Cheers,

Neil
