Kodiak Mk.III Air Control
I have a Mk.III Kodiak in my '63 109SW. It does not have the air control system (no knob, no cable, no damper) which closes off the 4" fresh air duct.
I don't think it ever did, but I am not sure if it was supposed to.
Do you find that air blows in passively? What about dust and crud?
Should I try to build an air control damper?

My 63 88" has a the air shut off but I never ever turn it off. Maybe you'd close it for deep water. Even if it's quite dusty I would typically keep the fan on as the air it gets is probably better than the dust inside.

Actually I would be really interested just to see the thing, too, to figure out where it fits... I must say I can't see where the hell I would be able to jam it in on mine but I have been surprised before... :shock:

Hello
My 1962 Dormobile has a Kodiak with the 4 inch air intake on the side. It has no air shut off flap. At highway speeds air will sometimes just barely flow into the rover. I built a small scoop to try and get more air in. It really made very little difference, so I do not think you need a flap if the air intake is on the side.
Some of the Kodiak installations ran the air intake under the fender and up to the radiator grill area for a real ram effect if you have this style you may want a air shut off flap.
If you need a new 2 speed heater control, the one with the funny little round 3/4 inch long resistor that gets red hot, they are still available from Lordco. ( I think everybody with a old rover has burnt their fingers on this a least once).
I just JB Welded the old rover heater knob onto the new heater switch by letting the JB weld set up a little then threading the Rover part on.

Do you know what the 2speed switch is stocked as at Lordco (P/N or name)? I could use one of these.

Sorry I do not have the part number but this is what you want. They are available in 2-3-4 speeds with screw or spade connections and push or pull on( Land rover) as well as with built in fuses. Price is anywhere from $20-60. If you get a parts person with some knowledge they will know where to find it on the shelf, it is universal on many 1960s vehicles
