Correct Tail Lights - for the love of God please help me

Ok, I surrender, and humbly come to you as a supplicant pleading for mercy.

I have just about knocked myself out trying to determine what the correct original taillights were for a 1963 Canadian 109 station wagon (mine, in other words).

Pictures on the web either are not of the rear end, or so small I can't tell. Endless web searches come back with the crappy defender new lights. Does anyone have an early S2 with original lights, and what are they?

Hi, if you sign up to the series2 club forum. There is a very helpful post (probably several) in terms of the various Lucas, Perei and other styles of light fitted to the rear of series 2's over the year. I would post a link to the page that I found insightful, but you likely couldn't see this unless a forum member. It's free to sign up.

Search under ' what is the correct light for my series 2 '
This is in their workshop wisdom section.

Mine came with defender style plastic ones on the rear. I have ditched these in favour of a tail/stop light with the clear opening at the bottom to illuminate my licence plate. It's one of several styles fitted to a 1961 S2. Land Rover had many options and the styles of light are numerous. Later S3 land rovers had larger lenses front and rear, that are hard to come by.

The pn: for those I bought are 589446. 3bros website illustrates these in their parts section.

3 Brothers has a selection of lights including a complete replacement kit. I suspect they're plastic, but the look seems 'correct.'

I seem to recall Rovers North might have glass versions available, but I'm ageing and my memory isn't what it was.

Thank you... I think. What a quagmire of info! I am now certain I need three different types of taillights.

So I'm going to pick the ones I like best and call it done.

If you are concerned about what is original, you can buy locally. Call Aart at UK Trek and Traction in Langley.
