Yes, it's a 'go'. Saturday June 11th is the date. Hoping for open forest roads but have plans for a private property run if needed. Camping available in the field overnight Friday and Saturday nights. Pot-luck dinner Saturday as always and we'll do breakfast on the deck, Sunday, like in recent years.

Hi Guys
Less that a week to go till the rally. Remember any age or style of Land Rover is welcome to attend even Freelanders.
It would be nice to get some kind of a count so we know how many T- Bones to buy for the Saturday night pot luck dinner. ( Well maybe not, but a rover count would be appreciated)
So whos planning to attend this year?
See you there. Victor 1962 Dormobile

I'm not able to go after all :(
Is anyone from the comox valley to parksville area going? Andy was going to bring over some springs for me and I'd love if someone could hold onto them until i can arrange to come pick them up

Hi everyone!
Unfortunately I will be at a conference in Quebec City on the weekend. I would rather be off-roading.
Have a great weekend.

Tentative itinerary for the 14th Van Isle Rover Rally weekend. Sorry better late than never.
The Field will be ready for anybody showing up Friday afternoon just drive on down behind the big red barn and choose a prime camping spot in the freshly mowed grass.. We will probably have a campfire later in the evening.
Saturday morning we will have a drivers meeting at 9:00 am. and attempt to leave the farm by 9:30 . The run will be a little different this year because of all the road closures and gates being locked because of the high fire danger.
In convoy we will head south on back roads (paved but at least they are back roads) to one of Vancouver Islands choice tourist attractions. From there we will head to Oliver's place for the most amazing demonstration of modern robotics you have ever seen. Maybe we will have lunch there also so bring a lunch.
Since we can not get onto any public land or trails we have arraigned for the use of some 50 acres of private trails to explore. They may be scratchy and you may have to do some winching, there should be hours of fun for everybody here. (You can ride with someone else if you do not want your rover scratched.)
Then back to Greg's farm and the pot luck dinner, so bring something to share (there is a big Walmart on the way back to Greg's) so if your cooking skills are lacking you may still pick up something edible to share. Dinner will be at 5:30. In the lower field this year like it used to be.
If we have time and the road is open we may attempt to go up to the top of Mount Provo after dinner the view is amazing.
Followed by another campfire.
Sunday morning Greg and Erica are doing a pancake and sausage breakfast up behind the house at 8:30. That's it.

Thanks Victor...
Dibs on potato egg salad for the pot luck - our chickens have ramped up production recently so I'll make it an eggy one!

Hi everyone
Great Rover Rally this year, good weather, lots of entertainment, delicious food and we also managed to get two drives in. Only two vehicles got slightly damaged (sorry about the log into the windshield Eric) and the brand new Honda that was following us around on the Saturday drive took a rock to the windshield courtesy of her husbands 110.
This was also the first year that nobody left a lawn chair at the field after all the rovers had departed, however inside the closed barbeque we found the business end of a very nice camping fry pan it looks almost new. But the handle is missing, could whoever owns it please send us the handle?
Thanks for coming and hope to see everyone again maybe on the mainland this time at another Rover event this summer.

Re: The 14th Annual Cowichan Rally-In-The-Valley event-June
Thanks to everyone for a great event. It was a great opportunity to meet another group of roverlanders and enjoy some great hospitality. Even the weather cooperated in the end! My kids and I had an amazing time both on the tours and the offroading, not to mention to the great fireside conversation. I made the ferry in plenty of time thanks to lots of help both hooking up my trailer and a guide to the actual ferry. Just goes to show you that no matter where you live, a roverlander is a roverlander through and through.

Great weekend Greg (as always) and thanks for hosting it. It was nice to see the regular islander folks as well as some main-landers who are always good company... we are glad you were all able to make it over and spend some time with us!
