I am considering an engine or engine & transmission swap out on a 2000 Discovery II
I have two of these trucks
One which runs great and only has with 117K but with a rough body
The other with 217K has a great body but blown engine
Does anyone have an idea what is involved in and engine or engine & transmission swap?
Time costs etc

Re: 2000 Discovery Engine Swap
Well, how long is a piece of string? No different than any other rear drive, modernish vehicle. I would say 8 hours labour for someone very experienced with specific knowledge and all the required facilities and no problems with getting it running after the install. This will require re-coding of ECUs.
The 8 hours does not include removing the first engine from the donor, so say 12 total.

12 would be awesome
Best offers I have had so far a 8 to remove each engine and 8 to install, so a minimum of 24
That was engines only
But anyway thanks for pointing out the ECU recoding. I did not think that would be required.
Would that be an exclusive for a Land Rover dealership issue?

8 hrs to remove and 8 hrs to install is about right, no ECU programming required. I know you can put the VIN into the ECU, but who the hell ever bothers. I would advise you to do the head gaskets, and personally I always fit ARP head studs.
