Rover Convoy to Founders Day Febuary 18th 2017

#1 Post by island dormy » Tue Jan 24, 2017 7:18 am

Hi Guys

So far we have 2 rovers from the Island heading to Founders day on Saturday February 18th.
One truck will be leaving from the Cowichan valley via Victoria on the 7:am. ferry and one will be leaving from Duke point on the 7:45 am. ferry. Both will come back on the last boat Saturday night.
If you need a ride ( just in case your Rover is for some strange reason not working) let us know both trucks at this time have room for passengers.

I'm heading over in the AM, but will likely be on the Horseshoe Bay Ferry... saying that might do Tsawassen for safety in numbers "just in case"!

I'm aiming to catch the 9 AM out of Swartz Bay. Bringing JD and Derek. Coming home on the 9 PM out of Tswassen.

Hi Oliver

I will be at your place at 5:15 am. I have Ron's address so we can pick him up along the way.

Hope everyone made it home safe and sound. My return trip was much less exciting than last year (life is good when there is oil in your transfer case  ). There was one big winner on the raffle tickets... Ron won a chair and water bottle! It's at my place, we'll drop it by the next time we're in town :)

Made it home here in Duncan at about half past midnight. Left Founders Day at 6 PM for the 9 PM ferry. Should be plenty of time to catch some nice Chinese food at the waiting area at the terminal. Looking forward to it! THEY WERE CLOSED!!! The next best for dinner at the kiosks was the hot dog vendor. He was out of food! Guess I should have made reservations for dinner. Out of food? How do they do that? We didn't need to eat, the carbon monoxide fumes sort of took our appetite away. I'll have to do something about those fumes.

257 miles in 6 1/2 hours driving, 2 1/2 hours in ferry lineups, 3 hours on ferries and I still feel it was a good day.

Thanks Roverlanders for organizing Founders Day.

And Islanders also won't "Best LWB Defender" and "Best Discovery II".
In the raffle I walked away with the starter motor and transfercase cooler. Playing the raffle is all skill. It isn't just a case of luck like many think.
