Sounds strange Tim, the two systems are exclusive of each other. You should be able to trace a leak if there is one, the clutch system is pretty basic :?

Strange indeed….I suspect that the fluid leaked from the clutch chamber of the reservoir to the brake chamber. If you were to disassemble the reservoir you would find a rubber seal at the the base of the central chamber (clutch). This rubber seal can crack or perish allowing the clutch fluid to drain to the outer (brake) side of the reservoir. Easy to fix if you can get it all apart. Use a neoprene washer to replace the faulty one.
