Helping my buddy restore his '61 Series II 2.25L gas motor 109" Land Rover and I'd like to ask you what oil should is best to use in the following areas:
- Motor 20-50 with Zinc?
- Gear box 80-90? (Synthetic or not if it's even possible?)
- Diff's 80-90? (Synthetic or not if it's even possible?)
Thanks, Pat

Engine oil does not matter much. Whatever XW40 that you like, with the X based on how cold you plan on starting it in. No need to go heavy on the second number unless it is so worn out there is no oil pressure.
Gearbox oil, a manual transmission lube is the best choice. It provides better shifting and avoids any issues with white metal corrosion.
Transfer box and axles any old gear oil. No need or point to synthetic. These parts don't wear.
If you are doing a restoration, it is probably a good idea to get the factory workshop manual....
